The University of Montana College of Forestry and Conservation - Formerly the School of Forestry, this is where I am going to school. One of the best research schools for Forestry in the nation. Recently there has been an effort to broaden the fire emphasis by adding new classes on a trial basis, and my fellows students and I have also taken steps to create a student group devoted to helping firefighting students at the University network with each other and potential employers. We believe that we are the next generation of wildland fire professionals, and are committed to helping new firefighters find opportunities that will help them develop professionally and personally while attending school in Missoula. Wildlandfire.com - A comprehensive guide to wildland fire, by wildland firefighters for wildland firefighters. Has lots of pictures, terms, and job postings. Also has a forum called "THEY SAID" where current issues and ramblings are discussed. Worth visiting if you are interested in wildland fire. National Smokejumpers Association - A look at at the most famous job in wildland fire, the smokejumper. A great resource for anyone who's curious about the history of smokejumping and the men and women who jump out of airplanes into forest fires. Spotfire Images - Alaska smokejumper Mike McMillan's site with many, many images showing all aspects of wildland fire, well worth the visit if you're looking for good fire-related pictures. Jon Marshall Photography - A great site for fantastic images of wildland firefighting by a Missoula smokejumper. I highly recommend that you take some time to enjoy his site. Musselshell Helitack - Official non-official site for the Musselshell helitack crew, Clearwater NF, Idaho. Some neat pictures and videos, plus info on the crew and area. Ozark NSR - The official NPS website for Ozark National Scenic Riverways, Missouri, where I worked as a Senior Firefighter for two seasons.
